Senate Approves Establishment of Vigilante Group

The Nigerian Senate passed for Third reading a bill seeking to establish the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN).

If signed into law, the VGN will have the responsibility of complementing the Nigerian Police force at the local communities of Nigeria.

The Bill which was sent for concurrence from House of Representatives canvassed the provision of community policing, maintenance of law and order, as well as community service for Nigerians.
The bill scaled the clause by clause consideration and was read for the third time and passed.

Other bills which were also sent for concurrence and passed after clause by clause consideration include :Subsidiary Legislation(Legislative Scrutiny Bill), Courts and Tribunals Fines and Financial Penalties Bill, Radiographers (Registration, etc) Act (Amendment) Bill, and Medical Residency Training Bill.
